Chores
I had neither the desire nor the skill set to take down an old, lightning-struck tree in my yard, so I called a tree service to accomplish this necessary chore.
Ha...during my first year of blogging, in 2009, my entry for "Chores" showed shots of a wood chipper we rented to dispose of some lopped-off branches. Apparently, in my house "chores" and "trees" go together... :-)

You was robbed, they call themselves tree fellas, but I only see one!
ReplyDeleteRon - there was one on the ground, managing his rope, and two more in my front yard working on a different tree. A full complement of tree fellas!
ReplyDeleteIn my world, trees and chores DO go together. You're either having to trim them, mow around them, pick up their dropped limbs, rake their leaves, or cut them down!

ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing skill set. Just last summer, we hired someone to take down a dying tree that bordered our neighbor's property. It was scarily expensive...BUT since then we've had a few wicked nor-easters, and now Irene. Any one of them might have brought that tree down on them. It was well worth the money.
ReplyDeleteThat is the worse kind of chore in my book...we have been doing a lot of that at my parent's house. Great capture of the professional doing what he does best! :)
ReplyDeleteYesterday morning a straight wind of between 45 and 60 mph and a sideways rain toppled trees all over our neighborhood. We were without power for twenty-four hours . . . no one was hurt, but the damage to property is extensive. Mother Nature strikes again!
ReplyDeleteTaking down big trees is something the pros can do for me, too. I don't mind pruning and trimming but climbing ladders is beyond me now. Great drama - really.
