Many of you may recognize, or remember, the name Frank Lloyd Wright. A renowned architect, one of his homes is located in Spring Green, Wisconsin. We took a tour there, and I enjoyed this sweep of steps leading up to a grand patio overlooking the Wisconsin River Valley on which the home is built. On the patio, it's easy to remember simpler times, lazy summer days, and the gifts of a man who left so many lovely architectural structures as his legacy.
One of my Favourite Simon and Garfunkel song was So Long FLW off the Bridge over Troubled Waters Album
ReplyDeleteHis design was simple and elegant, meant to harmonize with the environment--your photo captures it well.
ReplyDeleteYou captured the harmony with nature that Frank Lloyd Wright's architecture illustrates.
ReplyDeleteI love how you framed this so we get to walk right in. Maybe we could meet up next time in Oak Park...
ReplyDeleteHi Val,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot! Love how it leads you up to the front door. Have a great day!

I do know FLW. My sister gave me a tour decades ago of his hometown somewhere outside of Chicago, the name of which escapes me. I too like his style, though I read somewhere that his complicated rooflines were prone to leakage. Glad to know even the geniuses had their vulnerabilities!
ReplyDeleteYou sold me on it...I'll take it! :) I wish! :)
ReplyDeleteClassic deisgn work, makes me want to hang out there!
ReplyDeleteFLW architecture has such allure, he was a visionary.
ReplyDeleteLove that stonework. We have toured several of his homes in the past...beautiful!
