Not quite glacial ice . . .

. . . but being behind the frozen falls in LaSalle Canyon in Starved Rock State Park still wraps me in a soft blue light. I did no processing to this photo. Pulled the EXIF data because I was interested in how I managed to capture the blues that I saw with the naked eye. This was shot handheld on my Olympus 570UZ, f/2.8, shutter speed 1/30, ISO 125, focal length, 7.0mm.

  9. I've never seen frozen falls before but it does look like the blueish green of the glaciers. How does one get behind them without slipping? Great shot.

  10. Thanks for the nice comments, everyone!

Funny you should ask about walking behind the falls, Eddie. It's almost like a cave, carved out from years of erosion. As we walked behind, I commented that it was probably the first time in weeks I was standing on DIRT (not snow). The ground was quite sandy, no snow had fallen there and no ice had formed. It was probably the easiest walking we did in the whole hike!
