Company on the trail

A furry jack rabbit watches us pass. His ears are much bigger than those of the cottontail rabbits back in Illinois.

  1. I've only seen cartoon renderings of jack rabbits--very nice photo! He's much more lean than the plump little bunnies devouring my landscape in the midwest!

  2. Suprising that he didn't run away. Great shot.

I believe that is because they are two different kinds of rabbits. Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. And what I know about rabbits is a "little bit!" lol I believe that the jack rabbit is a hare, while the cotton tail isn't. I'll likely get corrected by someone that does know!! :D

  4. Iona...I didn't know that! Their tails are different, too. Not tight and fluffy (or white), but black, and kind of long-ish, like a dog that has a docked tail.

    Always learning something new! :-)

  5. 'The better to hear you with my dear!' lol This is a great shot! Love all the textures and details around this hare. (Thanks Iona!)
