Girls just wanna have fun

Yosemite. Day four. On a hike to May Lake, we spy a marmot pair. The bigger male scurries away as we approach, but the girl strikes a pose.

  1. Did you know these were marmots before you went on vacation? I wouldn't have recognized them and would have been asking someone. It's been fun seeing an unfamiliar locale and new critters through your eyes, er, lens. She looks a little like the groundhog who's been chowing down on my coneflowers.

  2. Lorri, there are lots of marmots in the high country. I learned of them years ago...at first, I thought they were beavers! :-D

Did you hear them whistle? Aren't there Whistling Marmots?

  10. Wonderful shot, she does look to be looking for Mr. De Mille. Like any rodent it seems to matter where they want to move into...
