Summer

What follows spring? Summer, of course. If it can't actually be summer here in northern Illinois, I can at least dream of summer and all the wonderful produce it brings. Here is the third in the series of four "seasons" statues installed at the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, AZ.

Spring

As you may have read in last week's post, I was fortunate enough to visit the Phoenix Desert Botanical Gardens when an art installation was on display that depicted each of the four seasons. Below is a photograph of Spring. This one reminded me of a float in the rose parade, because it is mostly made up to represent flowers.

Winter

Happy New Blogging year, everyone! I hope to meet some new blogging friends and have new visitors to my blog.

Though I live in northern Illinois, I am currently in Arizona for the holidays. A favorite place to visit in the Phoenix area is the Desert Botanical Gardens. On display right now is some amazing artwork by the artist, Philip Haas. Installed at the Gardens are four sculptures, each of which depict produce and flowers that are ready for picking during each of the four seasons. Lucky me! I can start my 2013 blogging efforts with a photograph of "Winter".

You can read more about these fabulous sculptures here.

Justice

Woo hoo! Year four of photo-walking...done. It's been fun, everyone!

People who are seeking justice often start the process by visiting with an attorney. I wouldn't mind making an appointment with this firm, just to see the inside of this adorable office, tucked onto a side street in Key West, FL.

Keepsake

My grandpa was a wonderful man. He was an engineer and had a great curiosity about the world around him. His parents helped many families emigrate from Italy to the town in Connecticut where they chose to settle, open a store, and raise their children. My grandpa loved maps, and words, and it is through him that I developed a love of word games and puzzles.

When he died in 2000, I kept a rose from one of the lovely funeral arrangements. It is a treasured keepsake.

Hawk

Because I posted on the first day of the 52-week challenge, my 52nd post would happen before the end of the year. To stretch it out until December 31, I'm tossing in an extra shot. While I was fixing some lunch today, a fluttering outside my kitchen window caught my eye. This guy was hopping around in the grass, and he stuck around long enough for me to fetch my camera and take a few shots.
