Actually, just dark. I was in the tent, reading. Jon was outside, playing around with long-exposure photos. I liked this image so much, I asked him to be a guest photographer for this theme. Enlarge it to see the silhouetted trees behind our campsite.
He did good - this is really a fabulous take! Where is your silhouette inside of the tent?? LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. I LOVE IT!!
ReplyDeleteVery very nice! Well done, John!
ReplyDeleteTerrific photo. I really like this-how long was the exposure?
ReplyDeleteLove you "Back to Basics" people who pitch a tent (In their backyard) just to "Go Camping", LOL That is a great long exposure and the backlight is stunning. Don't wear flimsy clothing when you do silhouette shots in future. He is good, then most blokes are.
ReplyDeleteHe said he had the shutter speed set to 30 seconds (camera on a tripod; used the self-timer to avoid jiggling the camera). EXIF data says ISO of 80, fStop at 2.7. You can see the light from the coming moonrise off to the left.
ReplyDeleteI asked him about silhouettes from inside the tent. He said because the light was directly overhead (it was clipped to a loop in the center, top, of the tent) no silhouttes; the light would have had to be behind the tent for those.
That dark image in front of the tent door is a bench built into the tent pad...sunk in the ground & couldn't be moved. Oh well.
Stunning shot...love the blue glow from the tent, going up the tree trunks and from sky. Great shot John!
ReplyDeleteLovely shot! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThe glow from the tent and the very same color from the moonlight is so striking. Great shot, wonder if the tent would look to be floating without the bench
ReplyDeleteLove this shot! It is fabulous. Tell Jon he needs to frame this one now!
ReplyDeleteI truly love this shot, Val! The lighting is fantastic! Tell Jon 'he done good!'
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Lovely shot Jon!!!
ReplyDeleteI came to your blog the other day, left a comment which blogger promptly lost. I got frustrated and left in a huff. ;-) Recovered from that rejection, I'm back to tell you I've enjoyed seeing all these shots of your most recent vacation. If blogger cooperates, I'll try to comment on a few. ;-)
ReplyDeleteJon did a wonderful job on this - I'd kill to get a similar shot! Love the composition, the cool dusky blue sky, the inviting light from the tent, and the fantastic glow from the moon.
