In some Native American cultures, the coyote was considered to have magical, or mystical energy. Early on our bike around the lake, we spotted this beautiful fellow near a city park in South Lake Tahoe.
“Many primordial tribal tales provide a glimpse of Coyote's mystical power. In most, Coyote isn't merely a wild dog, but divine, an immortal spirit that brought his universal magic and good medicine to the First People. The Crow tribe describes him as the Creator of the world and all it holds, the First Artist, the First Worker.” From: http://coyotekiva.org/coyote.html
A very magical image of this mystical guy - I love watching these in motion, so graceful!
ReplyDeleteTalk about LIVING THE WILD LIFE, awesome shot of freedom.
ReplyDeleteGreat angle and light on this Trickster.
ReplyDeleteWonderful find and capture. Is he any relation to Wile E. Coyote?
ReplyDeleteSure hope you weren't that close to him!! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteI like that you caught him look back at you, lighting is nice and gives that mystical feel.
ReplyDeleteThe light does add a nice feel, the trickster/creator legends are spread so widely among different cultures, magic animals for sure. I love hearing them (Chloe doesn't)
ReplyDeleteCoyotes may be magical, but the are also aggravating. They chase other wildlife out of the area and they kill pets.
