Down by the old mill stream

This is all that's left of an original mill, perched on the banks of a river in a small town near where I live. Back in the good old days, this mill provided a place to grind down corn. Now, it's just a pretty little building on the outskirts of town. I'm 5 feet, 7" tall, and when I walked up to the door, I found the front eaves were just about at eye level. I figure that would make the top of the door about 5 feet high. They must have grown millers shorter in those days...

  2. I think that they were stooped over permanently from toting all those grain sacks. Beautiful Building.

  5. Lovely photo - I guess I could have been a miller - could have just scraped under the door carrying the sack while standing "tall".

  7. You did capture great detail in this appealing building. Seems like lots of old buldings have short door openings, I guess it would have meant less logs to lay up.

  8. Love that little building. I don't think that people were that short, were they?
