I love to ski. I like to see freshly fallen, undisturbed snow on days when I don't have to drive to work. Otherwise, I find the white stuff to be a huge nuisance.
Retired, my feeling now is that if it's going to be cold, we might as well enjoy the beauty of some fresh fallen snow! However, for all of my working friends, I can appreciate this idea of snow being a nuisance! Looks like the plows have already been down your street though....so that's a good sign.
I missed seeing this theme on the list. A huge nuisance in my opinion. Snow belongs in majestic mountains that one can either admire from afar or drive to and play in and then go home to greeness.
Hi Val, I really like this shot a lot. The tree and it's shadow create a strong graphic element that is really nice.
I know we are all sometimes dictated to by circumstances, but I would have loved for the background (far side of the track) to have had no trees, and more pure untouched snow. It would have turned an extremely good photograph into an exceptional one.
Nothing is more annoying than going on a winter shoot in the snowy hills and finding someone has tramped all over your favourite spot...Photoshop cloning to the rescue ;)

ReplyDeletePut on your snowshoes, Vak, and go and stomp all over it so that it doesn't look so smug and pleased with itself.
ReplyDeleteThe beauty of new fallen snow is most often overridden by the bother of moving it off the walk and driveway.

ReplyDeleteThat last word looks odd, green is good...
ReplyDeleteI love snow when it's like this - and I just bought some snowboots yesterday so I'm hoping we have some here soon!
ReplyDeleteIt's the walking around when it's slushy and then refrozen that I hate.
Hi Val,
ReplyDeleteI agree it's a nuance. I think it should snow on Christmas Day and then go away. That's the only time I like snow. Have a great day!

Please please please, more like this :-)

A horrible nuisance, Val. Horrible! I agree with Ellen in that it belongs in the mountains and not lowlands. Or in Illinois, just not here!
ReplyDeleteI'd say: I am fully with you, have the same attitude in relation to snow ...
ReplyDeleteWhile I agree if you have to drive in it snow is a nuisance, I do enjoy the first snowfall. (Not counting the snow we had in October)
ReplyDeleteI like your B&W image - especially the shadow.
I like the B+W and the lines of the tree. Snow....not really my liking.

ReplyDeleteAll I can say is better you than me lol That is a beautiful sight though!
ReplyDeleteI say I have to agree with you!
ReplyDeleteThere are great contrasts in this image, Val. Please keep all of that snow up north this year
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and definitely a nuisance!! Can't complain much this winter though!!
ReplyDeleteThat's just how I love snow: In a photograph!
ReplyDeletePS: Isn't it summer YET?
Looks like a nuisance day...but it did provide you with the opportunity to take this photo with it's stark geometry and simple shapes.
ReplyDeleteLike the B & W.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your thoughts of the snow. Looks very nice and fresh and sparklig white and I like the shadow leading the same way as the road
