Big scary machine...one year later

Some of you may recall this auger from last year's 365 project...posted under the theme of "spiral". This image, taken a couple of days ago, was shot from the chairlift. The machine is used to carve out the half-pipes that snowboarders (and some skiers) use to do tricks. The snowmobiles give a sense of scale.

  2. This image really does put the machine in perspective....think I am glad I'm not using it, I think it would eat me alive! :)

  3. That is so interesting!! I had no idea how they did that. I like the way the flags on the snowmobiles point right to the auger. Very cool!

  5. I do remember that machine and still marvel that it exists. Great shot to put it in perspective.

  6. It is amazing that the areas can be sculpted to suit the use of the athlete. Very colorful on all that white background.
