Once you enter Echo Canyon in Zion National Park, the trail wraps around these rocks, which are alternately worn smooth from rushing water and striated from years of weather - freezing, thawing. The trail is definitely narrowing...
This is very abstract and almost makes me dizzy lol I love the smooth and rough textures you have captured in this and the way it makes me wonder...what is at the end of this trail?
We were at Zion in September. What I couldn't grasp was that all those deep-etched canyons and the infinite variety of rock formations were carved by that dinky little river! Your photo demonstrates the seeming fluidity of the rocks there.
I was reading Bobbie's comment and it's true the water from the Virgin River has contributed much to the textures around Zion. I'm thinking thousands of years ago that the river may have been much bigger and now the rock formations have just dwarfed it in size. I really like this shot because it gives you a feeling of actually climbing around in there, a place that has to be seen to be believed.
wow that is really amazing formations. However id it's narrow it would be nothing for me

ReplyDeleteGreat angle, Christina said amazing, I think that should be a-mazing, as the eyes don't know which way to look, stunning shot.
ReplyDeleteHow amazing these formations are. I love that winding pathway through the striated rocks.

ReplyDeleteThis and the one below look so fluid even knowing that it is rock. Great shots and warming too...

Hi Val,
ReplyDeleteAwesome picture! My fear of heights would keep me off that trail. But it's really beautiful. Have a great day!
