. . . but a trip up these beats a scramble up the limestone cliffs. There are several sets of long staircases at Starved Rock State Park, which hugs the shoreline along the Illinois River and encompasses acres and acres of rugged limestone cliffs. (Yes, cliffs in Illinois!)
The staircase winds around a corner and continues up. Someone used a Sharpie at the bottom rail to write "236 steps to go". We didn't count.
I get short of breath just looking at this! I like the way you composed this to draw the eye up through the shot.
ReplyDeleteThey look a little scary especially with the snow. Like the composition of the shot.
ReplyDeleteFascinating. I'd love to get the chance to climb them. (When it's warmer.) (MUCH warmer.)
ReplyDeleteI like the composition too, counting would make it seem harder I'd think...
ReplyDeleteJust think of all of the exercise you got! Nice image (but cold looking)!
ReplyDeleteThey do entice a person onward and upward - but like some people say, "I don't to windows." I don't do stairs any more. Yet, nice shot and good color.
ReplyDeleteDo I see a broken limb here too?
Wow! That certainly fits stairs.
ReplyDeleteI like how you were able to give a sense of how many steps there are!
How nice of them to let you know how many steps to the top!! I have 14 steps in my house and that is quite enough for me!! This is a great shot, love the angle.
ReplyDeleteI got tired looking at the uphill stairs. Great shot.
