Slick and slippery

One of our California day trips was to take a boat to Santa Cruz Island, one of the islands in the Channel Islands National Park. We'd barely cleared the harbor when the captain stopped to let us view these slick and slippery sea lions, hanging out enjoying the morning.

  1. I love seeing Sea Lions like this - they look like they are having fun hanging out. They definitely look slick.

  4. What a fantastic shot! the glow of the red buoy against the muted sea; the shift of it so that we can feel its motion on the way; and the sinuous motion of the seals...all perfectly captured.

  5. Looks like those seals could really rock the buoy if they wanted to. I like the bright color against the monochrome background. The seagull topper is a plus, too!

  6. Great shot, looks like they take advantage of any platform they can find, love the seagull keeping watch on top.

  7. They look like they were put on that bright red buoy just to make a nice shot for the tourists. Sea lions are pretty comical in their movements.....quite enjoyable to watch.

  9. They seem to be gossiping about the tourists. The red buoy is such a fine pop of color.
