Renewal

A lone oarsman likely experiences a renewal of spirit as he cruises in the reflection of buildings on the Charles River early last Sunday morning.

Topaz really helped with this one. This view is facing east, about 8:30 AM. The buildings and trees were in shadow as I aimed into the rising sun. Using Adjust 5, I was able to recover the beautiful colors in the trees along the riverbank. The original image appears below.

  1. Wonderful composition and processing. I really like the way the curve of the land leads you to the reflections and your processing to recover the colors really enhanced the image.

  6. Wow, that is quite the difference. Thanks for the before and after and the explanation. Perhaps if you were facing west no adjustments would have been needed! ;-)

  7. I like it with the Topaz adjust: the colors are like the inside of a shell.

  10. The processing is great but you do have to start with a compelling image, I love the paddler on the flat water with the cityscape beyond.
