We were surprised that this red winged blackbird stopped by our back yard. We see these all over the place in meadows, but not usually so close to houses. I think it was drawn in by our freshly-filled bird feeders.
Shot through the window, on Sports mode.
Those live around my house...I put my bird food out and the black bird chase away my finches for the food! Really nice capture through the window, nice and clear!
ReplyDeletedon't have these in Australia, but have seen eyes with similar markings as the wing clips in many an Aussie soldier, on a Saturday morning.
ReplyDeleteYeah, these guys normally like fields with some water in them. This is a great shot of one as you caught the beautiful color as well as his eye.
ReplyDeleteNice!
I love their whistle! Your photo showcases the bird and its distacintve arm patches so well--crisp against that soft grey background.
ReplyDeleteBoy your windows must be spotless! Very crisp, the eye and patch are great. They do make cool sounds. Here I see them almost always by ponds or marshy spots.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot. I can recognize and name about 5 birds and that's one of them!

I often see them by the highway in spring. Great capture
