Depth of Field

If it seems as though I'm posting a lot of bird photos lately, it's because Jon was on spring break, and I tagged along on some of his day trips as he stalked birds all over northern Illinois.

This image of a ring-billed gull seemed perfect for the theme of depth of field. He posed for me near a pond at Lincoln Park Zoo.

  1. What a poser...nothing like having a model bird who poses on command! Very nice capture!

  5. Not that I know anything about birds...but it looks like a young bird, and there's something contemplative about it.

  7. Nice DOF indeed, and this is one clean and bright gull! He must not have a blue collar job to dirty those clean feathers.

  8. So well shot! I'm not a birder bur have heard that gulls can be really hard to identify what with variations and juvenile forms etc.
