A lost art?

When my grandmother passed away several years ago, my aunt sent me a pile of letters that I had written to my grandparents over the years. In this treasure trove of history was a letter my own mother had written to them when I was about 4 years old. It contained a brief note from me. The contrast between my handwriting and hers is (understandably) quite dramatic. Most of the letters I received back from my aunt were word-processed. I think it's a shame...there's something very special about a handwritten letter. Maybe I'll have to rethink all the email correspondence I do.

  1. I'd say you did very well for 4 years old! It does seem to be a lost art and aren't these samples a real treasure! I love this.

  3. I love this. A great shot and nice reminder of the power of the (hand)written word. You're lucky that these handwritten expressions of the family bond have been preserved. Are you loving your new camera?

  8. This is a real treasure to have. I have to agree with you. People saved handwritten letter for years because it just seems to be a part of the person writing the letter. It is sad that we don't do that any more.
