Tick, tock

Our first day out, we walked from Picadilly Circus, through Trafalgar Square, down to Big Ben and the area of Westminster Abbey and some of the Parliment buildings. Due to the 2012 Summer Olympics, much of London is under construction, or getting a spruce-up. I cropped out part of the shrouded Parliment buildings (and a bus that intruded on my photo at the last moment). Love that blue sky!!! (Are you all getting used to the building-lean when I'm zoomed all the way out to 18mm?)

  1. A neat perspective to the old famous Big Ben...love how the building below it seem to showcase it's beauty!

  2. Now that is Bloomin' London. Wow terrific portrait of Big Ben's tower. That is why you went there. Quite a nice shot as the British would say LOL.

  4. That's a great shot! I can't decide if the London Eye is a nice addition to the urban landscape or an eyesore. What do you think?

  5. Julie, I'm kind of wishy-washy on the London Eye. I've never seen London without it, and there certainly are other more modern structures mixed in with the older architecture. From this angle, I think the arch of it softens the sharper edges of the other buildings.

  6. What wonderful light and sky for this iconic shot! The crispness really comes through and accentuates the scene. Nice work and how fun!

  7. Getting the right exposure must have been very tricky. You've got a perfectly saturated sky and yet the buildings have no shadows at all and show off all their glorious detail.
