When the list of themes came out in December, I immediately thought of this tattoo parlor sign for the "spelling errors" theme. This shop is on the way to my health club, and whenever I get stuck at the traffic light there, I stare at this and wonder why they didn't argue with the neon-sign company to get a replacement for the word [sic] "peircing".
The window was pretty dirty, and there was a lot of reflection from passing cars, so I messed around with a series of filters to arrive at this result. The photo mask is from http://www.storeide.se/gunhild/index.htm.
On Easter Sunday, we went to my DBF's parents' home in Wisconsin for brunch. They live very near the Kettle Morraine State Forest, so after we ate, we took a hike. This sign greeted us at the trailhead:
Spelling errors always make me laugh. Really! Wouldn't you think the park people would know better!
ReplyDeleteI always am bewildered why people would pay for signs w/ spelling errors. Although a fuuny one happened to me....in my real estate ad I put "great DECK for entertaining" - and the ad came out w/ "Great DICK for entertaining" - I never got so many calls on a house! LOL
ReplyDeleteYou have great eyes to find these. Wonder whwere the proof readers were!!
ReplyDeleteOops!! That was a typo not a spelling error...so much for proof reading!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the tattoist is a bit more careful in the spelling of any words in his/her client's permanent body art...
ReplyDeleteJulie - I thought the same thing! In fact, that was going to be my original headline, but then I found the misspelled Wisconsin sign and the rest is history... ;-)
ReplyDeleteAt least it's not in Alabama. Good eye, Val. I love that layer mask too. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood catch on both, Val. I think there are probably many more spelling errors around us but our brains work around many of them.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Tammy, can you sell houses in Indiana? Our listing could use a bit of punch....
I wonder what "thrawing" is? It sounds like a good word for the "dictionary game".
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I must admit that the 'i before e' thing mucks me up at times since I have a German last name with e-i. The missing a hurts too along with trying to thraw out.
