My dear mom passed away just about two years ago from cancer. I miss her every day. My stepdad gave me some of her very nice jewelry, but I think my favorite piece is her "everyday" watch, which she probably picked up some place like Nordstrom's. It sat on her bedside during her last few days in hospice, and wearing it is like having a little piece of her with me every day.
Nice job on the picture! Lucky you to have something of hers you can wear every day. I'm sure your memories are great.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry your Mom and your family had to go through such a rough time. She left you some wonderful memories and a special one that can be with you all the time. This is a beautiful photograph.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how an object can help us connect to a person and memories. I feel the same wearing pieces of my mother's jewellery or things she gave me and feeling that physical attachment.
ReplyDeleteI lost my first husband (after 55 years of life together) due to cancer too. It is something I would not wish on my worst enemy! Terrible to endure being stricken with such a disease.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to have a piece of jewelry worn by your dear Mom. I think it would make her feel close to you each time you put it on. Good shot.
A lovely photo. Great to have an everyday item of your Mom's.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece to keep her close! It's nice to have something "physical" to bring back all those happy times!!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to have an item that evokes such warm memories of your Mom. Those everyday objects sometimes have extraordinary powers of comfort and connection.
ReplyDeleteA touching story and beautiful photo - I like the way you've focused on the watch face.
