Loons are generally found in quiet, remote, northern US and Canadian lakes. What a surprise, then, to spot this loon hanging out in the 20-acre fishing lake in a busy suburban park. The recreation path around the water is routinely busy with runners, cyclists, roller bladers, little kids and pets. This loon seemed oblivious to it all. We spotted it several times over a two week period. Who know what lurks in the mind of wildlife?
I thought you were calling ME looney LOL This guy looks a little lonely too, he needs a friend! Great capture!
ReplyDeleteGreat find!! I've never seen one around these parts either.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Kind of like the heron that graces the small pond wedged in between the library, the shopping mall and three heavily-trafficked roads in our suburban town.
ReplyDeletePretty bird! won't see them around here!!
ReplyDeleteGood catch! We saw a couple of ducks in the pool at the park a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera to capture the shot.
ReplyDeleteLoons are usually so shy--you've even managed to capture its red eye.
ReplyDeleteI love loons! Their call is one of the eeriest sounds in the world. Great shot, Val...
