One of my bucket list trips is a see-all-there-is-to-see in Southern Utah. I will vicariously enjoy your trip though your photos. Great shot, by the way. (Cowboys are too independent and outdoorsy for me.)
When I look at this beautiful shot all I can see is John Wayne, Randolph Scott, Audie Murphy, James Stewart, William Boyd, Clint Eastwood ey al, so I guess Fairy Tales do come true!
Monument Valley is one of my favorite places on earth. It just gives you a feeling that isn't easily replicated anywhere. Looks like you were there on a nice day!
That cowboy is perfect for past longings and present senses of scale. Vast places like this (where I've never been and really want to see) need something to place one in the spot and what better than a human on a horse.
I think this is my favorite of your vacation photos of the SW. A beautiful and sentimental composition. I never dreamed of the cowboy...I dreamed of being the Indian princess bareback on a beautiful horse.(and was blissfully ignorant at the time that the Native American life had become so bleak and was no longer the stuff of dreams.
I'm with you on the cowboys! Great shot!

ReplyDeleteHi Val,
ReplyDeleteAwesome picture! My prince charming was a knight on a white horse. Have a great day!

OMG I love this....a classic scene and I'm w/ you....cowboys are good! :)
ReplyDeleteNice use of the rule of thirds to show the vastness of the scene.
ReplyDeleteI love this shot so much! Authentically western!
ReplyDeleteClassic western! Great shot, Val. I'm always amazed at the amount of color in what some would term a barren land.

ReplyDeleteThat landscape is amazing, especially with that lone cowboy looking at the view.
