Flight

On the boat returning from Santa Cruz Island, I was experimenting with trying to keep the gulls, who were following us, in my viewfinder. Bouncing, swaying boat; gliding, dipping gull; other passengers who had heads that kept bopping into my field of view.....tough! Did get a couple of good ones. Stabilized lenses are amazing.

  1. Hi Val,
Awesome shot! He's beautiful. My camera has a stabilization on it too and it really comes in handy sometimes. Have a great day!

  2. He looks like he is coming right at you with that sharp beak.

  3. Wow, well done. Those would certainly not be the most ideal conditions.

  4. Very nice job capturing this under bouncy conditions. Heck, I get blurry shots with image stabilization even when I'm just standing up!

  5. I cannot tell you how many years I've been trying to snag a gull photo that even came close to this! Amazing!

  6. All you need is a bucket of hot chips and the gulls will practically throw themselves at you. Remarkable shot under the conditions.
