Winter in Illinois

This high school sits on the river, just downstream from a dam. I've always enjoyed the geometric shapes in this castle-like structure. Contrasted again the frozen, turbulent state of the water, I think it's particularly striking.

  1. I like the flag! It's an interesting shot, and more so after your written description.
Never would have guessed it is a river.

  2. hose are the second largest rifle slots I have seen this week (Sorry Max) The river Pirates must be ferocious when the water flows. Great Building.

  3. I love how the shapes just come out at you in this image...all those squares and rectangles are the first thing you notice when looking at this grand structure! so perfect for the theme (and what a cool building!)

  4. Great building! I like your composition with the frozen river in front. I had to enlarge it to get a better look! Lots of shapes going on in the ice there too.

  5. Nice composition on this shot. Cool high school, too. Mine looked more like a prison. :O)

  7. Wow - that highly-textured ice / river is really something! And what a fascinating building too - nice strong elements to it's structure.
