Hurray! Temperatures warmed up into the 20s (wow! double-digits!) so I took my walk outside in the park near our house. It was mid-afternoon, but the sun was already dropping, making longish shadows on this lonely, cold bench. I was shooting into the sun. Set my white balance on Sunny (since it was).
Back home, in Photoshop, I ever-so-slightly adjusted the exposure in the RAW editor to lose a touch of blue in the snow. I then used a B&W preset to convert this already almost B&W image.

Neato! The shadows are really nice and I like the texture of the snow. This photo just has to be B&W.
ReplyDeleteI like! The bench's shadows are way cool but I really like the way the branches and the slim slice of the far shore make me think about what the view must be like in spring or fall.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful processing Val...it really lends itself nicely to the cold, quiet, and lonely emotions this sets off....those bold shadows are just a bonus!
ReplyDeleteNice! Ditto on the shadows but my favorite part is the texture created by the plants in front of the bench.
ReplyDeleteEveryone else got all the good comments so I will satisfy myself with the thought that it was kind of you to leave that fluffy white cushion on the bench for people to sit pn! LOL
ReplyDeleteReally nice shadows echoing the bench.
ReplyDeleteReally like the shadows of the bench, but also how the depth of the snow stands out. Cool picture.
ReplyDeleteI really like this photo. It speaks volumes-of cold, silence and isolation. B&W was a good choice.
ReplyDeleteNice choice on the B&W. I really like the way those feathery branches make an interesting, textured backdrop.
ReplyDeleteI hate coming in after every one used all the words! I can just echo all of the above.
ReplyDeleteGreat lines created by the shadows. I love everything about this one. You are so good to be walking outside in the lower double digits!!
